Following the release of Engender Equality’s Systems Abuse and Family Violence in Tasmania: Evidence and Recommendations for Action research paper, this webinar explores the critical role that systems play in the perpetration and continuation of family violence.
Too often, our responses to family violence focus solely on the actions of individual perpetrators. Yet victim-survivors regularly experience harm through the very systems intended to support and protect them.
This FREE webinar will unpack the emerging concept of systems abuse, examining how perpetrators weaponise institutions and services, how systemic biases can create harm for women and mothers, and how individual practitioners can unintentionally collude with abuse through their decisions, actions, or omissions.
Drawing on Engender Equality’s research and practice experience, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the ways systems can perpetuate gendered violence, and the changes needed to create safer, more accountable responses for victim-survivors.
